"Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."

Proverbs 27:17

"Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves..."

Ecclesiastes 4:11

“Who will you invite?”

Iron Sharpens Iron is a two-man Christian retreat adventure focused on discovering the divine call to authentic friendship and brotherhood. Along with studying God’s Word on this topic you and your partner will have a “time out of time” adventure deep in the Texas Hill Country or high in the Colorado Rockies. This unique gathering of men targets one purpose: To draw men together, two by two, and launch them on a God ordained legacy driven adventure.

The Bible demonstrates that men were designed for adventure and called for battle. It further reveals that outside of a relationship with Christ a man will seek worldly adventure yet remain unfulfilled; he will engage in earthly battles, but they will end in futility.

Iron Sharpens Iron serves as a strategic launching point for Christian brothers to enter an adventure with Christ and to engage in the battle for eternity as a force of two. The Bible demonstrates the power of two throughout its timeless pages. Ecclesiastes reveals, “Two are better than one because they produce a good work. If one falls, his friend is there to help him up. But, pity the fool who falls and has no one to help him up.” Proverbs proclaims, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus sent out His appointed men two by two with supernatural authority. Jesus further stated in the Gospel of Matthew, “For where two or more come together in my name, there am I with them.” Furthermore, we see the power of two revealed in the divine partnerships of Jonathan and David, Paul and Barnabas, Moses and Aaron, and Caleb and Joshua among others.

There are so few models of authentic brotherhood in our world today. We are trained well in wearing masks, hiding emotion, building walls, and keeping up our guards. Most men reveal that they don’t have a deep and abiding friend that consistently affirms and encourages him towards God’s calling in his life; a friend that would stand with him through the triumphs and tragedies of life; a friend that has the true courage to hold him accountable to the highest level of integrity in his faith, marriage, and vocation. Iron Sharpens Iron provides a safe venue for authenticity to replace the mask; for brotherhood to replace isolation, and for a friend to be empowered as legacy coach. A legacy coach is our description for a person committed to championing his friend’s legacy dream; a man who is committed through thick and thin.

Below is the list of scheduled Iron Sharpens Iron events from which to choose. All events start on a Thursday or Friday and departure from the facility at around noon on Sunday (flights need to be arranged accordingly).

During each event we will study God’s Word regarding the power of two men battling together as well as create a unique adventure through various activities that men love. Our purpose is to create a unique experience which will serve as a launching pad for an unforgettable year of brotherhood and growth. These events are open to all Christian men who want to enter a covenant commitment to grow in their faith, marriage, and friendship. To be eligible each man is required to sign up with a partner. This is a two-man retreat requiring a “legacy coaching” commitment from each man to his partner.

To cap it off, a one-year anniversary gathering will take place the following year at a site TBA for alumni from this event who want to return for a second adventure. This anniversary event will serve as a celebration of God’s work in our lives across the year and the power of divine friendship, as well as provide a platform for sharing stories of a year of Iron Sharpens Iron brotherhood.

Iron Sharpens Iron will be lead by David Cook and his staff. You can find out more about them by clicking on team bios.
